How Solar Savings Differ By State
Your solar panel savings depend on three state-specific factors: how much sun you get, what you pay for electricity, and what local incentives are available. States in the Sun Belt — Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas — get the most raw sunlight, but states with high electricity rates like Connecticut and Massachusetts can see even faster payback periods despite fewer sun hours.
Every state benefits from the federal 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC), but many also offer their own incentives. New York's Megawatt Block incentive, Massachusetts' SMART program, and California's Self-Generation Incentive Program can add thousands more in savings.
